Business Forum members headed out onto the Solent on 13th September 2018 for a sailing day and blasted their way across to the Isle of Wight in strong steady winds.
Jonathan Davis of Clifton Ingram LLP took to the helm for his first ever sail and reached the impressive speed of 9 knots on a sail that saw clear blue skies, sunshine and chilly temperatures. With skipper Bill Dormer of Tradewind Sales Ltd teaching the crew of Business Forum members the basics for a safe day on the water, the Business Forum members took yacht Concorde from the Mercury Marina on the River Hamble over to Wootton Creek on the Isle of Wight.
“The sail over to Wootton Creek was gentle,” said Bill. “We had to motor a lot of the way as there was little or no wind. But after we had had a lovely lunch in the Royal Victoria Yacht Club the winds picked up to F4-5 and we had a fantastic sail back.”
Jonathan took the helm and declared afterwards “Thanks for a wonderful day on Thursday, giving me the best introduction to sailing I could have asked for.” Bob Wade of Bracknell Forest Council and Sue Dormer of Tradewind Marketing made up the rest of the crew.
